With the theme “Genuine Anti-Political Dynasty Law: The Electorate’s Demand”, the RTD gathered experts and advocates to address the decades-long issue of the prevalence of political dynasties in the Philippines and their socio-economic impact. Tackling the Anti-Dynasty Bills filed in Congress, the group also provided insights on what an Anti-Political Dynasty Law should look like.
The consensus reached calls for a “Genuine Standard” in any anti-dynasty law, including a prohibition up to the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity, a one-term mandatory cooling-off period for succession, and coverage for the partylist system.
