On August 31, 2018, six (6) individuals from Asia were bestowed the distinguished Ramon Magsaysay Awards at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
PCID President and Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation Amina Rasul-Bernardo welcomed the guests and the distinguished Magsaysay laureates, namely, Sonam Wangchuk and Bharat Vatwani from India, Maria de Lourdes Martins Cruz from East Timor, Vo Thi Hoang Yen from Vietnam, Youk Chhang from Cambodia, and Howard Dee from the Philippines.
They are Asia’s HEROES OF HOPE for this year for their distinctive achievements, selflessness and generous spirit.
The event was hosted by Ms. Carmencita T. Abella, President of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation, and graced by the presence of Philippine Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo, former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos, members of the Board of Trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation, the Magsaysay family, families of the awardees, other distinguished guests, and members of media.
