The Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy congratulates two of its convenors who are recently announced by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) as members of the expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission. Atty. Jose Lorena began his involvement in the Mindanao peace process as part of the GPH Panel, Technical Working Group, while Ms. Samira Gutoc-Tomawis is the chairperson of Kazalimbago Movement and founding acting chairperson at the National Youth Parliament Alumni Association. The expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) is a body that will draft the new Bangsamoro enabling law. The crafting of the law is part of the implementation process of the southern peace pact or the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) signed between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on March 2014.
